Description

The history of the craft business begins in the 17th century. An ancestor of Alfons Böcker is mentioned as a blacksmith. This craft established a tradition of the Böcker family up to the father of today's senior. He was also a blacksmith. - Alfons Böcker wanted to bring the design component into his profession and therefore became an art blacksmith. “I didn't even know the job of belting at the time. But then I started an apprenticeship in this very trade at the Knappe company in Münster. ”At that time he came into contact with the production of church art. After successful completion, the young journeyman worked in well-known workshops in Germany and Switzerland. In Cologne, he learned the production of hand-driven, high-quality gifts and sacral devices, in Switzerland he made unique sacred pieces for Swiss churches and for the Vatican in Rome. Alfons Böcker passed the master's examination in Stuttgart in 1959. Then he was in Munich with well-known Goldsmith workshops, among others employed by Max Olofs as a silversmith. During his time in Munich, he attended courses in drawing, designing and designing at the art academy. He later received recognition as a "freelance artist".  A good basis for building your own existence - and that began in 1960 in the garage of the parents' house in Drensteinfurt. The term "start up" for aspiring young entrepreneurs who started their own business with ideas, idealism and daring did not exist at the time, but Alfons Böcker belongs to this group. With the desire for independence already in his apprenticeship and journeyman period, he drew designs of church equipment. 1960 saw the first orders for chalices, monstrances and crosses for churches in the dioceses of Munich, Speyer, Wiesbaden and Cologne. In the meantime, he also received recognition as a "freelance artist" from the art academy Dusseldorf. Word got around about the ideas, designs and the first-class work of the silversmith and master belt maker from the Münsterland. The company, which at times employed up to 15 people, including 4 masters, also produced sacred devices for churches in Papua New Guinea and Mexico. At the beginning of the eighties, the family-run business specialized in the upscale furnishing of hotels, shops and private houses. Works from Böcker are always custom-made, such as showcases for the world-famous company Montblanc, which among other things. manufactures high quality fountain pens and pens. - There are always inquiries from colleagues from other industries that lead to orders, as does the Böcker Gürtlerei's own high profile, which describes itself as a “designing and forming metal workshop”. In 2017, 10 specialists in the workshop belong to the Böcker team, including 2 masters and 2 trainees. As well as 2 specialists in administration.
